MK Photo, owned and operated by Mikelle Kamm since 2013, is a photography business specializing in lifestyle family photography, personality-filled child photography, and couples photography that emphasizes connection. The goal of this project was to create a brand identity and website that reflected the business’s affordable, customizable, and professional approach while enhancing its visual appeal to stand out in a competitive market.
Challenges
The photography industry, particularly in lifestyle and family photography, is highly saturated. MK Photo needed a brand that not only differentiated itself visually but also communicated its core values of affordability, creativity, and client-centric service. The challenge was to develop a cohesive brand identity that emphasized these aspects while ensuring that the branding was versatile across digital and print media.

- Brand Strategy Development: I started by understanding MK Photo’s mission, vision, values, and ideal audience through a comprehensive onboarding process. This led to the creation of a detailed brand guide that included a mood board, color and font choices, logo variations, and brand patterns, establishing a solid foundation for all visual marketing efforts.
- Logo and Brand Guide: Drawing from keywords like creative, fun, and professional, I designed a logo that combines modern and minimalist elements. The primary logo uses a classic script font paired with a modern sans-serif font, while the alternative logos offer flexibility for various applications. The brand guide ensures consistency in logo usage, typography, and color palette across all touchpoints.
- Website Design and Social Media Integration: I developed a clean and user-friendly website that highlights MK Photo’s services and portfolio. The website is designed to be visually engaging while maintaining a seamless client experience. Social media elements were integrated to ensure cohesive branding on platforms like Instagram, where color palette rules and font pairings help maintain a consistent brand presence.
- Collaborative Design Process: Throughout the project, I maintained close collaboration with Mikelle Kamm, incorporating her feedback at each stage. This iterative approach ensured that the final designs not only met her expectations but also aligned perfectly with her business goals.
